Having received a message from a friend suggesting the evening at brands hatch and knowing a few friends would be interested I immediately said YES and set about texting a few friends and posting on the Minitorque forum to drum up some more people to come along.
In the end we had 8 minis on track in total (which far outnumbered any other type of car) and about another 4 cars who came along in support and to have a watch.
It was a great evening, the weather held out with only some ominous looking clouds but no heavy rain. There was a bit of drama with a couple of spins and Adam from Minitorque had a slight off into the gravel transforming his car into a maraca for a while but no damage was done and the car was soon sorted out.
One of my friends Jason was unfortunately black flagged 10 minutes into the first session for exceeding the drive by noise limits in his R53, but I lent him my R56 to use instead, so it wasn’t a wasted evening and it has to be said Jake Costin’s blue R56 and my red R56 track prep’d and with close to 290bhp, they were absolutely flying.
I have to mention Cleo Collins who came along and jumped in at the deep end coming on track with all the hooligans for her first trackday ever. She did brilliantly and her pace increased throughout the evening. At one point she called it a day and then the next thing we see is her back on track, I think it’s safe to say she’s got the trackday bug.
Thank you to everyone that came and I look forward to the next one.
